What is the contest entry procedure?
You must complete an APPLICATION FORM and return it to the Midwest Artist Search with your registration fee before the deadline date of February 20, 2009. Payment can be made via Paypal online at www.midwestartistsearch.com or mailed to P.O Box 190 Walworth, WI 53184. Checks are made payable to Midwest Artist Search.
Can I compete if I am from another state?
Yes, you are allowed to compete from any state in the country.
How old do I need to be?
The age limit is 18 years or older for the current competition.
Will a back up band be provided for me?
There will be no back-up band provided for this solo vocal competition.
Can I use pre-recorded music?
You must provide, and will be allowed to use a pre-recorded musical track.
You I accompany myself or sing A'cappella?
You can accompany yourself or sing acapella for your submission. You must provide, and will be allowed to use only a pre-recorded musical track for the course of the competition.
Do I have to sing the same song throughout the competition?
No, in fact, if you make it to the finalist level, you will have to sing two separate songs for consecutive nights of the Finalist competition.
Will the same song be allowed to be sung by different competitors?
The same song will be allowed to be sung in the submission level. Once contestants are selected, they must submit the song they choose to sing for the Contestant Elimination. Only one contestant per Contestant Elimination can sing an individual song (granted on a first come, first serve basis). This provides a more unique entertainment experience for the audience base, and stretches the range of the performers. Song selections must be confirmed by no later than 9am, the date of competition.
What if I have a complaint?
If your complaint involves the competition, you need to put it in writing and email it to us at submissions {@} midwestartistsearch.com.
What is the time limit on my song?
We allow up to 4 minutes from the first musical note you sing in the Contestant Elimination round, 6 minutes including your introduction for the Finalist Round. We do not stop our stopwatches for false starts.
Can I compete in more than one Midwest Artist Search?
Any contestant must complete a new entry form and pay the entry fee when entering another Midwest Artist Search competition. Only the Grand Prize winner from any Midwest Artist Search is restricted from entering another Midwest Artist Search competition for one year.
If I choose to sing an original song, what are the requirements surrounding that song?
If you choose to sing an original song, you are responsible for submitting a copyright form for that song’s performance. If you need a form, contact us, we can mail one to you. If you won't have it back in time make a copy of the form and have it notarized stating that you are in the process of getting it finalized.
Can I get my judge scores mailed to me after the competition?
Written evaluations of submissions shall be provided via email. If you would like to review the judges’ ratings from any live competition, in order to learn what to work on for improvement, evaluations can be provided by request, and mailed following event. Submit your request via email.
I'm having trouble finding chord charts and/or lyric sheets. What should I do?
If you cannot buy the chord charts or lyric sheets, try searching for them online by doing a Google search for that song. You can also try www.lyricfind.com.
How do I apply online and/or email a file of my song?
Place a CD of your selection in your computer CD drive. Go to My Computer and double click on your CD drive to open that drive. Copy the file currently on the CD to a location on your desktop. Open and address an email to submissions {@} midwestartistsearch.com and attach your music file, your contest application. Once you have paid your fee through Paypal – you will receive an email that your submission was received.
